Every day, seven people die in home fires, most often in homes without working smoke alarms. That’s why the American Red Cross launched their Home Fire Campaign in 2018 to save lives. The “Sound the Alarm, Save a Life” program from the American Red Cross aims to raise awareness of home fire safety in at-risk neighborhoods across the nation. The American Red Cross partners with local fire departments to educate over 100,000 Americans each year about fire safety.
On March 3, 2021, the Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway renewed its Partnership with the American Red Cross to acquire 30 home Smoke Alarms to be installed in the Halfway Area Community. The alarms are offered at no cost and are installed by our personnel. In addition to installing the smoke alarms our personnel will assist in a home safety inspection and development of a fire escape plan.
The Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway is here to serve you. Our goal is to ensure that every home in our first due area has a working smoke alarm. In the month of February, Washington County experienced five heartbreaking fatal fires with one occurring within the Halfway Area Community. Acknowledging that we are not immune to these situations, the Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway has renewed its partnership with the American Red Cross to deliver smoke alarms free of charge to those in our community.
