Medic 269 Responds To Assist on Fatal Fire In Hagerstown

On the evening of February 24th, crews from the Hagerstown Fire Department were alerted just before 7:00 p.m. for a House On Fire on Linganore Avenue. Their crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions with multiple entrapments. The Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway was alerted for one Medic Unit to assist on the blaze in Hagerstown’s West End. Halfway’s EMS crew was committed for several hours assisting on the incident. HFD crews were committed well into Thursday morning. Reports show they had three confirmed fatalities and two other victims transported to Meritus medical Center. The incident is currently under investigation by the Hagerstown Fire Marshal’s Office with support from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
