Halfway Suffers Vandalism By WIldlife

March 20, 2023

On the evening of March 20th, The Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway suffered a break-in at our station. Crews found heavy damage to a glass front walk-in door along with a busted out window in a rear bay door of the fire house. Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call. No suspects were found in the building, but the remnants of fur was found.

Surveillance video was pulled and the culprit was found to be a rogue deer. Video footage showed the deer running towards the front walk-in door where it crashed through the glass and kept running until it jumped through the window of the rear bay door in the back of the building. Some say they believe they saw the deer last running in the area of Virginia Avenue and Roessner Avenue.

It is unknown what happened to the deer, but luckily no one was injured during the incident.
