Halfway Responds to Working Mobile Home Fire on Box 26-9

On the afternoon of March 31st just after 1:00 PM, Halfway was alerted for a Mobile Home fire in Lakeside Mobile Home Community. Washington County had several reports of a mobile home on Pickwick Lane on fire. Units arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the residence. After conducting the 360 assessments, crews found a shed on fire with heavy extension into the residence. Firefighters were initially hampered by water supply issues. Once a good water supply was established crews were able to get a quick knock on the fire bringing it under control 35 minutes after dispatch.

Halfway was assisted by HFD, Williamsport, Maugansville, and Funkstown Fire Companies. No one was home at the time of the fire. After investigating, it was determined the fire was believed to be an electrical malfunction. One firefighter was transported with minor injuries. The occupants are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. Damages were estimated around $75,000 between the structure and its contents.
