Halfway Responds To Working House Fire In Williamsport
February 14, 2022
On the morning of February 14th, Halfway was alerted at 02:15 hours to respond with Engine 261 on Box 2-1 for a House Fire in Williamsport on South Vermont Street. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire conditions. Williamsport reported they had a two-story residential structure with fire showing on Side Alpha as they established command. Engine 261 arrived and went to work assisting on exposures as Williamsport’s crews were conducting their initial attack.
Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly a half hour before command called for the residence to be evacuated due to deteriorating conditions and changed operations to a defensive attack. Command was able to report the fire under control at 03:14 hours that morning. Firefighters remained committed on the scene for several hours conducting overhaul operations.
Our Engine 26-1 was released from the scene that morning at 07:15 hours while Williamsport remained on the scene with the State Fire Marshal’s Office. While Engine 26-1 worked the call, Tower 26 remained ready and covered calls in our first due while Engine 261 assisted on the incident in Williamsport. Special thanks to HFD Engine 1 who responded with the Tower 26 on a call in Greenberry Hills during the Williamsport incident.
