Halfway Responds To Vehicle Roll-Over On Interstate 81

On the night of May 7th, Crews from Halfway responded out to assist on a vehicle accident on Interstate 81 North Bound. Washington County Emergency Communications Center received reports of a vehicle roll over in the area of Exit 6A. Halfway was alerted for the call along with Hagerstown Fire Department, Funkstown Fire Company, and Community Rescue Service at 23:39 hours. Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrived confirming they had one subject entrapped in the vehicle.

Halfway Medic 268 arrived to find a single vehicle on its side with one occupant still in the vehicle. Additional units arrived firefighter were able to stabilize the vehicle and quickly extricate the occupant. Once extricated, the occupant was checked out by EMS on the scene and refused transport to the hospital. The cause of the accident is not currently known, and is being handled by the Maryland State Police.
