Halfway Responds to Oven Fire on Sterling Road

On the afternoon of June 28th, Halfway was alerted for a Stove Fire on Sterling Road around 12:54 hours. Washington County 911 received reports of a confined oven fire. Crews from Halfway responded with assistance from Williamsport Fire & EMS and Hagerstown Engine 5. Halfway’s Deputy Chief Drawbaugh arrived reporting he had nothing evident from the exterior and established Sterling Road Command.

Crews made entry with Williamsport’s Deputy Chief Nokes supervising interior operations. Crews were able to report that the fire contained to the oven was out shortly after entering the structure. Crews remained on the scene for a brief period to ventilate the house and removed the stove from the residence. The house was double checked to make sure there were no other hazards present.

No injuries were reported during the fire and damages were kept to a minimum. Deputy Chief Drawbugh reported FD Operations complete at 13:22 hours terminating command and releasing all units from the incident.
