Halfway Responds To Outside Fire
Feary 16, 2023
On February 16th, Halfway was alerted for a large outside fire. Halfway Engine 261 arrived and observed a fire off the main road. Crews made entry in the 1100 block of Linwood Ave to access what appeared to be a large fire in the wooded area. Once back the driveway it was found to be about 200 yards further in or near the wooded area. Lieutenant Cleveland established command and advised units to stage while Engine 261’s crew worked to access the fire on foot to confirm the exact location and determine the best accesses for responding units.
Once the incident was located, crews found a debris fire about 20' x 20' of unknow material burning and a large stack of timber logs 20' long stacked 10 high with a small fire burning underneath. appeared to be possibly 2 set fire as they were 150' apart and had no obvious connection to one another. It was then determined to be best accessed off Sweeny Drive. With the fire being found to be in the City Limits, HFD Battalion 3 assumed command and coordinated access with incoming units.
Engine 261’s crew assisted HFD with extinguishing the fire. Once under control, Halfway crews were released by Command.
