Halfway Responds To Head-On Collision

On the evening of January 7th, Halfway was alerted for a vehicle collision on Hopewell Road in the area of 11316 Hopewell Sheet Metal south of Hunters Green Parkway. Washington County ECC had several reports of a head-on. The ECC received additional information confirming four patients and automatically started an additional Medic Unit on the call. Crews arrived to find two vehicles involved with all occupants out of the vehicle.

Chief Drawbaugh arrived establishing Hopewell Road Command confirming dispatch. Personnel on Engine 261 began evaluating the scene and confirmed no entrapments. They had two adults and two pediatrics involved that were all out of the vehicles. Command requested a third EMS Unit dispatched to the scene to assist. All patients were packaged and transported to Meritus Medical Center. Once all patients were treated and transported, Command released Williamsport Rescue Engine 2 and held Engine 261 for a short period to assist Washington County Sheriff Office. At 22:23 hours, Chief Drawbaugh reported all fire department operations were complete and terminated command.

Halfway received additional assistance from Williamsport Fire & EMS, Community Rescue Service, Washington County EMS1811, Washington County Fire Police, and Hagerstown Police Auxiliary. Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 3 was started to assist, but later canceled by Command after evaluation of all the patients involved.
