Halfway Responds To Gas Odor At Williamsport High School

On September 15th, Halfway was alerted to assist Williamsport Fire & EMS on an odor of gas in the building at Williamsport High School at 5 South Clifton Drive. Calls came in reporting an odor throughout the school. The fire alarm was activated prior to FD arrival and firefighters arrived to find the school evacuated. Williamsport arrived with Engine 2-1 and established command and requested the gas company to respond. Firefighters checked and metered the building and found no hazards. After investigation, it was believed the odor was coming from an outside tank that vented. No hazards were found, and students were able to return to class. EMS did check out one student, but no one required transport to the hospital.
