Halfway Responds On 2 Alarm Fire On West Baltimore Street In Hagerstown
March 24, 2024
On the afternoon of March 24th, Hagerstown arrived to find a working fire at 26 West Baltimore Street beside Meritus Stadium. Halfway Engine 26-1 was alerted and responded with a crew of 3 consisting of FAO Amos and firefighters Drawbaugh and Godwin. Engine 26-1’s crew arrived and assisted with fire suppression. Crews on the scene were faced with heavy fire conditions in what was known as the old Snook’s Poultry.
Command called for a 2nd Alarm for additional staffing which pulled Tower 26 in on the call. The Tower responded fully staffed with a crew of 6 consisting of the Deputy Chief , FAO Wegner, Sergeant Martin, and firefighters Ralls and King. Upon arrival our officer was assigned to supervise the Staging area while Sergeant Martin took his crew and reported to the manpower area and was assigned to the roof. Crews from Halfway were committed on the scene for several hours that evening.
We wish to thank the crew from Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Company out of Franklin County Pennsylvania who responded with Engine 7-2 to the request to transfer into our house. They stood by until our crew were able to clear the incident.
