Halfway Responds For Working Shed Fire On Box 26-5

On the afternoon of November 10th, Halfway was alerted at 10:31 for an outside fire in the area of Greenberry Road. Washington County ECC received multiple calls reporting heavy smoke coming from the area. At 10:32 the call was upgraded to a shed fire at 17720 Crest Road after receiving a call from the resident reporting their shed was on fire. Support 261 arrived confirming they had a shed well off to the rear of the residence and established Command.
Deputy Chief 26 arrived assuming command and conducted his 360 confirming he had a 20x20 Shed fully involved and on the ground. Firefighters were in the process of stretching an inch and a half attack line off Engine 261 and beginning their fire attack. Crews were able to get a quick knock on the fire within minutes of beginning their fire attack. At 10:50 Command reported fire out and began releasing units on the box holding Company 26 units until the arrival of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Damage from the fire was contained to the shed with some extension into the neighbor’s shrubbery at 17727 Timber Lane. Halfway remained on the scene to assist the State Fire Marshal’s Office. At 11:49 Command reported FD Operations complete and Company 26 units cleared the scene while Maryland State FM24 remained on the scene. The cause of the fire is currently remains under investigation and no information has been released at this time.
