Halfway Pays Respects To Firefighter Kelly Frye

October 1, 2021

On the afternoon of October 1st, Halfway Engine 261 and Tower 26 were set up on the Bower Avenue Bridge over top of Interstate 70 to show support for Firefighter Kelly Frye of Cumberland Fire Department in Cumberland, MD. Engine 261 and Tower 26 along with Chief and Deputy Chief units were out there to pay their respects to Firefighter Frye and crews from the Cumberland Fire Department that were escorting him home from Baltimore, MD.

Firefighter Kelly William Frye contracted COVID-19 while on duty after responding to multiple medical calls, coming into contact with COVID Positive patients. Firefighter Frye passed away on September 29th, 2021. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cumberland on the loss of one of their brother, as well as Firefighter Frye's Family and Friends. We were honored to stand tall as he passed by that day! #neverforget
