Halfway Engine 26-1 Housing Party
June 29, 2024
On June 29th Halfway was proud to open their doors to the community for them all to come see our newest addition. We have recently taken delivery of our 2024 Pierce Enforcer Pumper! Since March when the Engine first hit the assembly line, we have been getting updates weekly during its construction. On May 13th, our Engine Committee consisting of Chief Drawbaugh, Past Chief Ernst, Battalion Chief Cleveland, Deputy Chief King, Sergeant Bryan, and FAO Vazquez flew out to Appleton Wisconsin accompanied by Vice President Peters to conduct the final inspection of the Engine.
We were proud to take delivery of the rig the first week of June! The rig has a 6 man cab and is set up to carry 750 Gallons of Water! It was also designed that the Operator Panel is set up with pull levers instead of digital valve controls. We have four intakes on all sides of the pumper for function ability. We were pleased with the number of residents who came out to view the rig and see what their donations go towards.
The Engine is currently at Executive Emergency Lighting in Shepherdstown, WV. They will be working to mount all the purchased equipment so we can work to get the Engine placed in Service. Between the Equipment Mounting and the familiarization training our drivers need to go through, we hope to have the Engine in-service by late August if not earlier. It’s designation will be Engine 26-1 once it goes in service.
We want to thank all those who contribute to Halfway whether it be through our annual fund drives, our Chicken BBQs, or our Online Raffles! We appreciate all the support we receive!
