Halfway Assists Williamsport Fire & EMS On Major Accident

On the morning of March 13th, Halfway crews responded to assist on a vehicle accident with multiple patients on Greencastle Pike north of Williamsport. Washington County Emergency Communications had multiple reports reporting a T-Bone Accident with one possibly unconscious. Williamsport Fire & EMS were started on the initial assignment to handle the call. With the additional calls reporting serious injuries, an additional Medic Unit from Halfway was started to assist on the call.

Crews from Williamsport arrived to find a Two-Vehicle accident with two entrapments. Four additional EMS units were requested to the scene to assist with multiple patients which included the second Medic Unit from Halfway. Halfway’s Engine 261 was then requested to the scene to assist with establishing a Landing Zone as emergency crews on the scene worked the extrication. Emergency crews had five serious patients that were transported from the accident scene. One pediatric was flown to Children’s Hospital in Washington D.C. while all other patients were transported to Meritus Medical Center.

The accident is currently under investigation by Maryland State Police. Williamsport Fire & EMS were committed on the scene until almost noon assisting Maryland State Police. Companies on the call were from Williamsport Fire & EMS, Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway, Washington County Division of Emergency Services, Community Rescue Service, Clear Spring Ambulance Club, Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 3, and Washington County Fire Police.
