JULY 28TH, 2008
Medic 26 responded with Funkstown Fire
for an MVC on Interstate 70 involving a Motorcycle.
One single patient was transported by Company 26 to
Washington County Trauma Center.

JULY 6TH, 2008
Area residents were a little confused
during a House Fire on Gay Street in Halfway when they saw a
fire engine from Potomac Valley come around the corner that
morning. Due to a special event, Potomac Valley Fire
Co.11 from Southern Washington County along with
Maugansville Fire Company 13 from Northern Washington County
were supplying Funkstown Fire with Engine and Squad crews
when alerted for a fire in halfway. Crews arrived to
find a dehumidifier on fire causing a heavy smoke condition.
Crews were able to control the fire with a water can of the
first in pumper from Halfway. The resident was awaken
to the blaze by a smoke detector which not only saved her
life, but her house as well.

JUNE 29TH, 2008
Halfway responded out on a 26 box for
a House Fire. crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming
from the structure. Firefighters had a working fire in
an abandoned house on Nursery Road. Chief Ringer made
the decision to allow the structure to burn and set up
operations to keep the blaze contained to the foundation and
protect the exposed wooded area around it. Crews spent
several hours on the scene until the fire was well contained
in the foundation. No injuries were reported during
the incident.

JUNE 8TH, 2008
Halfway responded out a vehicle
roll-over on Halfway Boulevard just prior to the Downsville
Pike. Crews arrived to find a vehicle on it's roof
with the occupant out of the vehicle. The driver
refused treatment and units cleared shortly after.

JUNE 3RD, 2008
Halfway Fire responded with Hagerstown
and Funkstown for a House Fire on Linwood Rd at the dead end
beyond the Rail Road Tracks. Crews arrived to fine a
house fully involved. Responding crews were able to
see the billowing smoke from miles away. Crews battled
the blaze to keep it under control within the foundation for
about four hours before being brought under control.

APRIL 19TH, 2008
The Volunteer Fire
Company of Halfway responded out to Hagerstown Regional
Airport with Engine 263 to participate in a Mass Casualty
Drill. Units were dispatched out around 10:00 hours for an
Airplane on fire with an unsecure scene. Calls
reported a shooter loose in the airport as well as a plane
on fire. The drill included Police, Fire & EMS.

Volunteer Fire
Company of Halfway responds for a House On Fire on Virginia
Ave. FM 26 / Deputy Cheif Ed Ernst was returning from
a fire in south county when the call was pre-alerted.
He was less than a block away when he saw the smoke banking
across Virginia Avenue. He arrived to find the back of
the building on fire. The fire is under investigation.

Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway responds
with Truck 26 on what some were calling the Fire of the
Century! Boonsboro Fire responded out for a Structure
Fire which quickly turned into a Four Alarm Blaze nearly
destroying the entire City Block.

Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway responds
with Medic 268 along with Engine Company 10 for an Injured
Subject. Arrived to find one patient still confined
due to her position in the vehicle. Additional
assistance was requested from Rescue Squad 10 and an
additional Medic Unit from Community Rescue to the incident
scene.
